History

Mavli is a small village nestled in the heart of Mavli Tehsil in the Udaipur District of Rajasthan, India. It is surrounded by 178 villages, making it a vital hub for the rural population in the area. The village itself is home to approximately 9,199 residents, with agriculture being the primary occupation for most families. Despite its proximity to Fatehnagar and the Udaipur District headquarters, which is about 40 kilometers away, Mavli lacked a quality educational institution, leaving the children of the village with limited opportunities for proper schooling.

Recognizing this need, the local community repeatedly appealed to the Prabhudasi Sisters of Ajmer (PSA) to establish a school that would provide a solid educational foundation for their children. Heeding the call of the people, the PSA Sisters embarked on a mission to set up a school specifically catering to the children of Mavli and the surrounding villages.

The journey to establish St. Teresa School Mavli began in a rented house in the heart of the city. Classes initially commenced in this rented building on 11 April 2016. Despite the modest beginning this early effort laid the foundation for what would become a beacon of hope for the children of Mavli. As the school continued to operate in the rented house the community worked towards purchasing a plot of land in Mavli. This dream was realized when the new school building was completed and inaugurated in 30th June 2018. Marking a significant milestone in the community’s vision for quality education.

Sr. Deepa was appointed as the first Headmistress of the newly established St. Teresa School, and under her leadership, the school began to grow. Initially, it started with a small number of students, but word of the school's mission and the quality of education it offered quickly spread. Today, the school educates 250 children from Mavli and the neighboring villages, providing them with access to education that was previously beyond their reach.

The curriculum at St. Teresa School focuses not only on academic excellence but also on the holistic development of the students. The school emphasizes moral values, cultural awareness, and community engagement, ensuring that the children are well-prepared to contribute positively to society.

Over the years, the school has become more than just an educational institution; it has become a pillar of the community. Parents and villagers alike take pride in the school, seeing it as a symbol of progress and hope for the future. The PSA Sisters continue to work tirelessly to expand and improve the school, with plans to build permanent facilities that will accommodate even more students and provide a broader range of educational opportunities. St. Teresa School Mavli stands as a testament to the power of community action and the impact of dedicated service. As the school continues to grow, so too does the promise of a brighter future for the entire Mavli region.
